these are some fabrics I have scanned in, the ones with my prints on them are what I got digitally printed at Huntech, they only do polyester so they are printed on polyester canvas and poly chiffon, it was really cool to see what it would actually look like printed up and if it was done on a silk I think it could be really nice.

the others are samples from global, silks, it’s hard to really see any detail or get the feel when they have been scanned though.

final digi prints I will try to incorporate into my work. just leart a WAY easier way in photoshop which helped, but would have saved a lot of copying and pasting into place time.

Work I’ve been doing on photo shop for digital printing

A really good website explaining the process of digital printing, what it entails etc

EDUN

Edun was founded by Bono and Ali Hewson in 2005. Their aim is to create fair trade with africa while producing beautiful, ethical clothing.

‘Edun is based on a belief that style should have substance and while it has always sourced globally, as its business grows so does its production and work in Africa.’

‘Edun is inspired by Africa. Its founders, Ali Hewson and Bono, have a lifelong love for the continent. Edun wants to encourage other fashion brands to trade with Africa in order to help attract more volumes of trade to Sub-Saharan Africa.’

this is the kind of apporach I am hoping to have, celebrating vietnam instead.

For EDUN’s 2012AW collection, they used digital printing like the photo above. I think it’s really cool how they have an ethical/sustainable focus, but are aiming to make fashionable garments that will sell to a wide range of people

digitally printed garments definitely have a different look to them. it’s interesting to see how they incorporate a lot of colour and use a lot of different prints to give them texture opposed to getting texture from the fabrics

natalia grzybowski was in the recent emerging designers show at ID fashion week in dunedin. her garments are absolutely beautiful and the intense floral patterns have been carefully arranged
